Name changes lie ahead for KZN communities
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The Department of Arts and Culture in KwaZulu-Natal says a number of communities can expect to witness several name changes or amendments in the near future.

It says a number of areas are currently using names which don't reflect precisely the language, spelling or culture there.
The department's Lethukuthula Mtshali says they have undertaken extensive consultation with communities using independent research bodies.
''As we know that we come from the past where some of the original placements were distorted for one reason or another.
''An example that I can make is the KwaDukuza area where it was previously called Stanger but now it's called KwaDukuza,'' he said.
The department says it has already begun advising the Transport Department to also change road signs to correctly reflect the names of the affected areas.
