N3 Toll Concession warns of busy roads as school holidays end
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Traffic authorities are urging holidaymakers leaving KZN to drive carefully with rain predicted across the province today.
The N3 Toll Concession says traffic volumes are expected to pick up again today as people head home following an end of year break on the coast. Schools re-open next week.
The concession's Con Roux says up to 1700 vehicles per hour passed through the Mooi River Toll Plaza yesterday - travelling towards the inland provinces.
Roux says they're concerned about the number of people who will be travelling in wet conditions - especially over Van Reenens Pass.
"We're expecting 2000 vehicles an hour - that's very heavy traffic. If heavy rain materialises as we are expecting it, it means that drivers will also need to be extremely patient with the potential of delays due to those weather conditions as well as peak traffic," he said.
