N3 Hammarsdale interchange to be closed for demolition
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The N3 between Pietermaritzburg and Durban will be closed to traffic at the Hammarsdale interchange this weekend for the demolition of the old Hammarsdale bridge.
The road closure is effective from 8pm on Friday, 25 October, until 8am on Sunday, 27 October.
Traffic will be separated at the Cato Ridge interchange for motorists heading towards Durban.
If you are travelling towards Pietermaritzburg, expect diversion to take place at the Shongweni interchange.
Light motor vehicles will be diverted off the N3 and onto the R103 in both directions.
Heavy vehicles traffic will continue on the N3 and will use the on- and off-ramps of the Hammarsdale interchange in both directions.
Motorists are being advised to factor in these diversions and possible delays when planning their journeys over, or consider taking alternative routes over the weekend.
