A high-speed chase and shootout played out on the N2 freeway, north of Durban last night.

Marshall Security's Kyle van Reenen says authorities descended on the freeway at strategic points to try and intercept the vehicle along the way.
He says the minibus was eventually spotted at the Tongaat Toll Plaza.
"From the Umhlanga area - a high-speed chase ensued with shots being fired by the suspects at the authorities. Eventually, the South African Police Services managed to intervene and intercept the vehicle towards the Queen Nandi Drive off-ramp. A male suspect, the driver of the vehicle, sustained a gunshot wound to his right shoulder. He was arrested on site," he said.
Two other suspects managed to flee the scene and they remain on the run. The arrested suspect was taken to hospital and will appear in court soon.
Police say cases of carjacking and attempted murder are being investigated.
