Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A Port Shepstone man has been handed two years behind bars or a R20 000 fine for a road crash that claimed the life of his fiance and their unborn child.
Devashen Naidoo, who pleaded guilty to charges of reckless and negligent driving, also had his license suspended for a year by the Umbumbulu Magistrates' Court yesterday.
The 24-year-old was driving with 22-year-old Sonali Sewbran, from Durban to Southport last year, when they collided into a truck on the N2 near Umgababa.
Sewbran, who was 36 weeks pregnant at the time, was killed in the crash.
