UPDATE: N2 blaze started from bus engine - eThekwini Fire

A fire that tore through a bus transporting passengers in Durban this morning - is believed to have started in the vehicle's engine compartment.

Newswatch has been speaking to eThekwini Fire officials.
More than 60 people had to quickly exit the bus after it caught alight on the N2 South before Spaghetti Junction.
The driver had managed to pull over to the emergency lane.

Three people were treated for minor smoke inhalation.
eThekwini Fire's Mandla Jeza says the blaze swept through the entire bus.
"When we arrived, the bus was fully engulfed in flames and all the passengers were already out. According to the driver, he had 65 passengers and he says the fire started from the engine compartment," he said.
