My #FreeZuma post did not incite violence during unrest - Kaunda

eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda has told the South African Human Rights Commission that his Facebook post in July last year about freeing Jacob Zuma did not incite violence.

The jailing of the former president last year has largely been blamed for sparking the July unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.
Kaunda's post - "We are Msholozi, Msholozi is us. #FreeZuma" - was published on the 10th of July.
Kaunda says he stands by it and sees nothing wrong with it.

"I do not think that my statements added on what transpired because this statement has been said even in 2005. It is not a new statement, so by then, it would have also created violence if it's now can be viewed that it really incites violence.
"It has been said by many leaders. I can even quote them who were addressing when they attend court cases of the former president Jacob Zuma."
