MUT opened a vaccination site at the main campus on Tuesday in hopes of increasing the vaccination of staff and students.

This as the institution noted a discouraging factor among the university population who previously needed to queue at the Umlazi Township D Section Clinic and Prince Mshiyeni Hospital for their jabs as per arrangements with the Health Department.

Head of the Clinic at MUT Nomusa Mkhwanazi says at the heart of having the site on campus is to help make the process convenient for the MUT community, including its over 600 staff compliment.

"Our targets are not defined by numbers because our intention is to vaccinate everyone that is eligible and willing to vaccinate at this stage.

"In our books, we have more than 13 000 students. If they are all willing and eligible to vaccinate, then we aim to vaccinate everyone, that will be determined by the demand for service."

Meanwhile, DUT has set up a temporary vaccination centre for one week at the Hostel school where students and staff can get their jabs starting from Wednesday.
