MUT: No ransom made yet for kidnapped lecturer
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Mangosuthu University of Technology Chancellor, Professor Marcus Ramogale, says to their knowledge no ransom has been demanded by those behind a suspected kidnapping of one of their lecturers.
A briefing was held on Wednesday to provide an update on the missing Shan Dwarika.
"We are left wondering why Mr Dwarika has been kidnapped. It could just be a simple matter of crime, but even if it is a crime that has been committed if the idea was to hijack his vehicle why was he not left alone? So we are worried about his fate."
The 61-year-old was abducted at Sea Cow Lake in Durban on Sunday afternoon.

Video of the alleged kidnapping was circulating on social media.
Police say a missing persons case has been opened at Greenwood Park and the search is still continuing.
A close friend and fellow lecturer says he received a call from Dwarika's son about the news a day after his disappearance,
He's been keeping in contact with his family.
"Today I spoke to his son-in-law, he is saying that he still has to hear from the reaction unit. I have had close relations with Dwarika for thirteen years. I miss him very much and I hope that he will come safe and alive."
