Murder of Port Edward activist sends shockwaves through community
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
A south coast community is reeling from shock following the murder of a Port Edward community activist.
Bibion Jaca was shot while he was driving in Nkulu ward last week.
It's understood the gunmen also shot and wounded a man travelling with Jaca.
Newswatch spoke to a resident who knew Jaca but didn't want to be named.
He said the 45-year-old activist had a strong relationship with the community and worked hard to ensure the delivery of basic services.

He says Jaca pushed for better road infrastructure and access to clean water.
The man believes that the activist came under threat because of the support he had received from the community.
He claims that Jaca recently distributed a voice note, which shared concerns over bids for a road construction tender.
Police are investigating.
