Updated | By Lauren Beukes
A man accused of killing a police officer has had his court case postponed to next month.
Siphamandla Mathonsi appeared briefly in the Durban Magistrate's Court today following his arrest in Cato Crest this week. It is alleged he was one of three men who shot dead KwaMaphumulo police officer Dumisani Mhlanzi in February last year.
Mhlanzi's service pistol was also stolen.
Two of the suspects were arrested a few weeks after the murder.
Hawks spokesperson, Simphiwe Mhlongo says the men will go on trial in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
"He will be joining his co-accused where they will both be facing murder charge of the police captain who shot dead on the 23rd of February 2018", he said.
