KZN COGTA has launched a Fire and Rescue Centre in Port Shepstone.

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Sipho Hlomuka officially opened the 14-million-rand centre in the UGU district yesterday.
He says it’s a critical step for KZN as the province continues to experience inclement weather conditions.
Last week, three lives were lost in weather related incidents.
The centre will house fire and rescue teams that will be supporting all municipalities under the UGU district.
"During this season, you know that there are many accidents that take place. At difficult times, can we try our level best to ensure that we are in the safer zone,” Hlomuka said.
“We respect the message that we are going to receive from the South African Weather Services. When we are told , let us try by all means to be in the safer zone when they are driving, when they are sitting at home, when there is lighting, they must try by all means to make sure they are in a safer zonem” Hlomuka added.
