Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi says a high level investigation is underway into a robbery that took place late yesterday at the OR Tambo Airport.
Armed robbers boarded an SAA plane moments after it'd landed after 7pm yesterday and stole money believed to be in the region of R24-million.
Mulaudzi declined to give out further information at this stage.
"We can confirm the robbery at OR Tambo. We are not in a position to give further details of what transpired pending the investigation," Mulaudzi says.

"As to how much was taken and the currency of the money, that is subject to further investigations."
In a statement, Airports Company South Africa spokesperson Trevor Jones also confirmed the robbery - saying no shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
In 2006, robbers made off with R100 million from a plane carrying foreign currency at the same airport. Most of the suspects were convicted in 2012.
