Mthethwa withdraws Section 13 notice against CSA
Sports Minister Nathi Mthethwa has officially withdrawn his notice on Cricket South Africa in the government gazette.
Mthethwa invoked his powers according to Section 13 of the National Sports and Recreation Act after CSA failed to create a new administrative structure for the organisation.
Mthethwa early this week gave notice that he would withdraw recognition of CSA, a move which could have resulted in it being suspended from the International Cricket Council.
According to the statement, a meeting of CSA’s two factions resolved that a new memorandum of incorporation would be adopted within 48 hours in terms of South Africa’s Companies Act.

In a statement released on Friday, Mthethwa said he received a signed letter by both CSA’s acting president Rihan Richards and IB chairperson Stavros Nicolaou, confirming the unanimous decision.
”As the sole purpose of my intervention into the affairs of CSA was to facilitate a negotiated solution in respect of governance best practice. I have, based on the confirmation from CSA’s acting president and IB chairperson, instructed my department to immediately initiate the requisite process to withdraw the notice," Mthethwa said.
All three parties will hold a joint press conference on Friday afternoon.
