Mthembu on BLF: They must be arrested immediately

As the ANC wraps up its 5th Policy Conference at Nasrec, south of Johannesburg, the party’s Jackson Mthembu spoke out against recent action by members of the Black First Land First organisation.
Mthembu briefed the media on matters discussed in the party’s Communication’s commission, saying journalists cannot be threatened.
He was reacting to BLF members protesting outside the house of journalist and editor Peter Bruce last week, accusing him of protecting white supremacy after he wrote a scathing piece on the Guptas.
The South African National Editors’ Forum also took the group to court after a list of names of reporters it is targeting, were released.
“ There is nothing that says you must go to a journalist’s house and do these silly things that they are doing. We condemn them in the extreme and in our view we call it intimidation. Where we stand intimidation is a criminal act, they must be arrested immediately," says Mthembu.
Mthembu has urged the group to make proper use of the press council or ombudsman if they feel aggrieved.

“The BLF’s of this world do not belong to the ANC. You cannot be threatening journalists," he says.
