Msunduzi Municipality placed under administration

Co-operative Governance MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube made the announcement today - saying the decision is intended to bring long-term stability to the municipality.

The municipality - which is home to the seat of the provincial government - has been plagued by mismanagement and corruption. 

The Auditor-General has previously found there was irregular expenditure as well as wasteful expenditure at the municipality - among other things.

Spokesperson Lennox Mabaso says an administrator has been appointed to implement a recovery plan.
