They will be joined by 84 contestants of the Mrs Universe pageant on August 30.

The 'One Voice' march will begin at King Dinizulu Park and culminate at the Durban City Hall.

Hosting director of Mrs Universe 2017, Tracey-Ann Agget says the march relates to the theme of the Mrs Universe contest; Empowering women, creating change; that will be hosted in Durban next month.

"We've used the sisterhood of Mrs Universe to create a network around the world. We've initiated them in their countries to start to get citizens in their countries to march with us - making a strong global statement," she says.

Agget says the peaceful protest represents a cause she feels strongly about.

"I'm a child of domestic violence so when I participated in the Mrs Universe contest last year, I spoke from a very true and soft point from my childhood. I'm very passionate about those who have been affected by domestic violence. Being a survivor and conqueror, I want to empower those who feel like they've been left in the dark," she says.

Participants are encouraged to wear black. The march will begin at 10am.
