MPs to debate Ramaphosa's State of the Nation Address

Opposition political parties are set to scrutinise the State of the Nation Address.
A parliamentary debate on President Cyril Ramaphosa's address will take place during a hybrid sitting at the Cape Town City Hall on Monday and on Tuesday.
This is the first time the Sona debate's being held outside the National Assembly Chamber - due to January's fire.

Last week's address drew a mixed response from opposition parties, economists and unions.
The Democratic Alliance commended Ramaphosa for acknowledging that job creation isn't the sole responsibility of government.
The Economic Freedom Fighters criticised the address saying it lacked commitment on several issues.

Professor Zwelinzima Ndevu is with Stellenbosch University's School of Public Leadership.
He expects political parties to focus on the country's energy supply.
"We know the president has told us previously that they are going to do something it.
"He continued to admit that Eskom is failing to meet the energy demands but there were no clear concrete on new ideas on how they are going to deal with that issue. And I think that is something perhaps he should be taken to task on."
