Motorists respond positively to Ballito Interchange development
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
The mayor of KwaDukuza Ricardo Mthembu says he has been getting positive feedback from motorists since the construction of the Ballito interchange on the north coast.
Mthembu says since the expansion of the interchange, there's been an increase in economic activity.
He'd been speaking earlier at the Shaka's Head Sports Ground after the interchange was officially opened by Transport Minister Dipuo Peters.
He said communities have been helping with suggestions for a name.
''They regard that as a very important contribution therefore they have requested that we name it after Nelson Mandela so I'm still engaging with other people to say that this is the request I'm getting from the community. I am trying to indicate the significance of the project because they say it's at that level,'' he said.
Mthembu says the interchange contributes to the municipality's 2030 vision of becoming an economic powerhouse competing internationally.
