The price of petrol is down by 96 cents, diesel by 75 cents and illuminating paraffin by 57 cents a litre.

It's the first significant fuel price drop motorist in six months.

"I think it's about time because our fuel has been going up. It's a relief for us," an Umhlanga motorist said.

"It doesn't affect the normal person taking a taxi. When the fuel price goes up - the taxi fare goes up. When the fuel price goes down, the taxi fare doesn't," a Durban man said.

"I do think that it will make a major impact on my pocket because it's a whole rand. When the fuel price increased, I felt it. I am happy that the prices dropped. It won't make a difference to us - it will drop this month, and will go up again next month. Over the next six months, it goes up by a couple of rands," another motorist said.
