Motorist caught doing 209km/h to appear in court

A motorist will appear in the Hibberdene Magistrate's Court on the South Coast today - after being arrested for speeding on the N2 near Ifafa, yesterday.

The man was apparently rushing to gospel singer Sfiso Ncwane's memorial service in Durban, yesterday.
The Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) says he was pinged driving at 209km per hour.
He was later released on R1 000 bail.

The RTIs Zinhle Mngomezulu has issued a stern warning to motorists with a heavy foot this festive season.
"We normally say speed kills. We urge motorists to exercise caution whenever they travelling on the road - especially during the upcoming summer holiday were the roads are congested, and where we experiencing a high volume of traffic," she said.
