Motorbike driver killed in M7 collision
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
A motorbike driver has been killed after her bike collided with a car on the M7, near the Belville road off-ramp, in Durban.
Details around yesterday afternoon's crash are sketchy at this point. Rescue Care's Gareth Jamieson says when they arrived they found her alive but in a critical condition.
"She was stabilized on scene by Advanced Life Support paramedics and then put onto a ventilator. Once stabilized the patient was rushed through to a nearby hospital," he said.
"However a short while later the patient passed away due to the severity of her injuries," Jamieson said.
In a separate accident which the emergency services attended to also on the M7 a truck driver sustained moderate injuries when it overturned yesterday afternoon.
Paramedics found the heavy goods vehicle lying on its side on the side of the busy road. Advanced Life Support was used to stabilize him before taking him to hospital. Police are investigating both accidents.
