A total of 10-people were killed in the province last week.

Eight people, including four passengers, were killed on Monday in three separate incidents.

Police say on Saturday, a Tongaat taxi operator and a friend were shot while at a supermarket.

One person died on scene while another died in hospital.

The department's Mluleki Mntungwa says there is no taxi conflict that they know of.

"The MEC has asked the police to work around the clock, to ensure that the perpetrators of this crime are bought to book. He has also urged members of the public who may have witnessed the accident to come forward with information so that the police can speed up the arrests of the suspects," he said.
