Mother with sick child neglected at clinic
KZN Health MEC, Sibongiseni Dhlomo, says his department is investigating after a video surfaced which appears to show a woman with a sick child being ignored by staff at the Limit Hill Clinic in Ladysmith.
The video clip also depicts an interaction between a nurse and the woman -which the MEC describes as unprofessional.
Dhlomo visited the clinic on Friday.
He has admitted the situation could have been handled better and has apologised for how it unfolded.
"We take this matter very seriously and as such it is being attended to. The management of the clinic, assisted by Ladysmith Health department management are handling the matter", he said.
"We want to continue to impress upon our staff members to improve patient-staff relations. We need to do our best to keep a level-headed and professional approach to our patients all the time", Dhlomo said.
