Mosebenzi Zwane corruption case postponed to January

The fraud and corruption case against former Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane has been postponed to next year.
Zwane and his co-accused appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Former Free State HOD for Rural Development Peter Thabethe; former CFO Seipati Dhlamini, former Chief Director District Services Takisi Masiteng, Estina Director Kamal Vasram, Former Sahara employee Ugeshni Govender and Islandsite former Director Ronica Ragavan as well as eight companies are charged alongside Zwane for theft and money laundering.
The charges relate to the Vrede dairy farm scandal where R280 million was budgeted for the Estina Dairy farm project, which was meant to empower local farmers but allegedly ended up in the pockets of the Gupta brothers.

Zwane was a Free State Agriculture Member of the Executive Committee (MEC) at the time of the deal.
The State Capture Commission recommended a criminal investigation into Zwane and former Free State Premier Ace Magashule in relation to the dairy farm scandal.
National Prosecuting Authority Investigative Directorate spokesperson Sindisiwe Seboka says the matter has now been transferred to the High Court in Bloemfontein.
The case has been postponed to 25 January 2023.
