Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande is expected to meet with vice chancellors from various institutions today to discuss issues around fees.

Meanwhile, Wits University spokesperson Shirona Patel says the university put forward four proposals to students yesterday.

"They agreed to the conditions that were put forward on Saturday morning. Secondly, they agreed to renegotiate that 10.5% from scratch. So they would relook at the 2016 student fees from scratch.

"Thirdly, they've wavered the up front payment for all the poor and deserving students including students on NSFAS. The Vice Chancellor will give up his bonus this year and that will be used for student fees," she said.
