More Umlazi rubbish to be collected tomorrow

Waste removal services are set to return to normal from tomorrow in various sections of Umlazi south of Durban.

The eThekwini Municipality says trucks will particularly be coming around to Z sections and its surrounds as well as sections CC, D, B and C.

It says refuse at businesses will also be collected.

Services were disrupted three weeks ago when the township's waste removal contractors were threatened apparently by MK military veterans who want to also be considered for the job.

The municipality's Tozi Mthethwa says supervisors will be deployed in the area over the weekend to monitor waste collection.

''We want to ask all residents to make sure they leave all their refuse outside their gates so that when the trucks arrive they are able to collect the  waste with ease.

''We would like to thank all the residents in Umlazi for their patience and understanding,'' she said.
