More snakes to slither during Summer season in KZN

A local snake handler who has been called out to numerous homes where snakes have made their way inside or outside homes - has cautioned residents to be vigilant.
Nick Evans says he has caught over 10 Mozambique Spitting Cobras who have made their way into the homes of unsuspecting Durbanites - this month alone.
He says the dangerous African reptile may be out due to the heat. Evans says in the last two days, he's attended to homes where cobra, boomslang, green mambas and the typical garden snake have made it into or near homes.

He says that he has never dealt with this many cobras before, and urges people to remember that snakes are more afraid of them.
"If you keep three to five metres away - preferably five - you will be fine. They can spit up to two metres but if you leave them, they won't. They usually spit if they're cornered because they just ant to get away. So, if that does happen - you just need to rinse the eyes out with water," he said.

Evans was called out to capture a Green Mamba in Mariannhill on Sunday afternoon.
