‘More regulations needed’ to protect kids online
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
A non-profit organisation fighting gender-based violence says the country needs to introduce more regulations targeting child abuse online.

Sonke Gender Justice has lauded police teams for their efforts to dismantle child pornography rings in the country.
Three suspected predators were arrested in the Western Cape last week. In November, four were caught in KZN and Gauteng.
"These rings are a menace to our children. We hope that this criminal justice system will ensure that this case is handled with all the necessary care to ensure that a tight case is presented in court,” says the organisation's Bafana Khumalo.
However, he wants more done to protect children on social media.

“There is a serious need to train young people on the safe use of social media. We need to alert them on some of the criminals who target children, and it’s our responsibility as parents that we train our children."
