He says the family is frustrated by the lack of information around the case which they opened three weeks ago. The baby's mother suspected their little girl had been abused after fetching her from creche. She took her child to Edendale Hospital, where staff confirmed after an examination, that her baby had been sexually assaulted.

The father says they feel hopeless.

"We call on the police to help us get justice for what happened to our baby. We have not heard from the investigating officer for some days", he said.

"Police haven't even interviewed the people from the Day Care, who were there on the day of the incident. How is that possible? We need to see action", the father said.

Meanwhile, KZN police say they are yet to make any arrests,  spokesperson Jay Naicker explains the situation.

"So far an DNA analysis to link the suspect was conducted and investigators are awaiting results", he said.

"We are informed the investigating officer is in regular contact with the complainant. Remember we investigate a person and then arrest - we do not arrest and then investigate", Naicker said.
