Officers are appealing to the public to donate suitable dogs to be trained for narcotic and explosive detection as well as tracking and apprehending suspects.

Metro's Parboo Sewpersad says German Shepherds and Rottweilers are among the breeds best suited for the task. He says Metro only has five dogs at the moment.
"We will require additional dogs. The dogs will be trained for a specialised function. Every day, police dogs are used in fields of specialised functions," Sewpersad said.
