More officers deployed following Ladysmith taxi shooting

The police's Provincial Task Team established to investigate taxi violence in KZN has deployed additional officers to Ladysmith following a shooting yesterday that led to the deaths of 11 people.
The deputy chairperson of a local taxi association and four security guards were ambushed on the N11.
Gunmen opened fire on their bakkie - killing all five of them.
The bakkie then crashed head-on into a second vehicle - claiming the lives of six teachers who had been travelling to nearby schools.
The shooting is believed to be linked to a dispute over the Ladysmith -Johannesburg route.
Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says the increased police presence in the area will continue indefinitely.
"The members from the taxi violence task team will be working on investigations ensurng that the community there is safe," she says.
