More calls for Werner de Jager to be denied bail
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
An NPO offering support to victims of violent
crimes has called for bail to be denied in the murder case against an
Amanzimtoti man.

Werner de Jager, who is accused of strangling his wife Liezel at their home three years ago, has submitted his bail application.
The court previously heard that Werner took out life policies two months before his pastor wife's death, and later tried to make claims.
Concerns about his mental health were also raised in court on Wednesday.

"What we heard from the state concerned the Action Society, as well, is that Werner has a background of instability, of being unstable not only potentially mentally but he could also have held some kind of threat to other members of the public. So we feel it important for him to remain behind bars."
