More arrests made in connection with KZN magistrate fraud case

Traffic police have arrested five more people in a case against a KZN magistrate who's alleged to have fraudulently obtained a driving licence.

One of those nabbed in Mpumalanga, include a medical doctor. 


Three are driving licence examiners and the fifth person's a data capturer. 


Bonginkosi Mtshali, an Empangeni District Court Magistrate, made his first appearance last Friday and was released on R2 000 bail.

The RTMC's Simon Zwane said: "They will all be facing the same charges that the magistrate is facing, which is conspiracy to commit fraud and defeating the ends of justice."


"An investigation was conducted which has shown that procedures were flouted which resulted in him obtaining a licence through fraudulent means." 


"Mtshali appeared in court, his case was postponed to the 28th of April where he will be appearing in the Eerstehoek regional court, where he will join the other five accused in this matter."
