More than 2 000 new COVID-19 cases on the day SA kicked off the vaccine rollout

On the first day of the Johnson and Johnson vaccinations,
there were 2 320 new cases of COVID-19 reported across South
Africa.
Statistics released by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize show that the number of people who have contracted the deadly virus since last year now stands at 1 496 439.

The country’s recovery rate has also increased to 93.5%.
COVID-19 related deaths continue to increase with 165 new fatalities recorded in just 24 hours.
