More than 100 critical KZN Education posts vacant
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
KZN Education MEC, Peggy Nkonyeni, says 173 critical posts in the department remain vacant.
Nkonyeni yesterday addressed hundreds of delegates at the Premier's Education Indaba at Sibaya Casino, north of Durban.
The event focused on finding solutions to problems - including the lack of accountability across all levels of management and delays in filling posts.
It also comes as the province has seen its second consecutive decline in the matric pass rate. Nkonyeni says the scarcity of resources means they may not be able to fill all vacant posts.
"We only managed to fill 2 103 critical posts during this current financial year. These included those of Subject Advisory Services, Circuit Management and other administrative personnel," she said.
