More than 1 500 new COVID-19 cases reported in SA

South Africa has
confirmed 1 599 new COVID-19 cases in the latest 24-hour period.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says in his daily report released on Wednesday evening that the total number of infections now stands at 1 561 559.
Mkhize says there were 75 new Covid-19 related deaths.

"Eastern Cape 14, Free State 9, Gauteng 26, Kwa-Zulu Natal 24, Limpopo 0, Mpumalanga 0, North West 0, Northern Cape 0 and Western Cape 2, which brings the total to 53 498 deaths.”
Wednesday was the first day of no new vaccinations since the announcement by Mkhize on Tuesday evening that South Africa is temporarily suspending its Johnson and Johnson roll out.
So far, just over 292 000 health care workers have received the vaccine.
The recovery rate is unmoved at 95%.
