Mop-up operation at Isipingo Lagoon amid probe into pollution

eThekwini Municipality says officials will be monitoring the waters at the Isipingo Lagoon after dozens of dead fish washed ashore.
The South Durban Environmental Alliance suspects the water's been polluted by a sewerage leak at a nearby pump station.
Local fisherfolk are demanding answers from authorities.

The city's spokesperson Lindiwe Khuzwayo says a clean-up team was sent out to the beach on Wednesday morning.
"eThekwini Municipality has begun a clean-up operation at the Isipingo Beach lagoon following the discovery of dead fish over the weekend. Specialist clean-up crews are on site to collect and dispose of the fish in a responsible manner.
"Once again the public is advised to refrain from fishing in the vicinity, and from collecting or consuming the dead species while clean up operation is underway."
