Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Two security guards are in trouble with the law for allegedly stealing copper cables in Mooi River.

The duo was arrested on Tuesday following the theft in Hidcote.
Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo says they received information about two guards who had cut cables in the area, loaded them into a vehicle and fled.
He says the security company was contacted and two security guards questioned.

"They were interviewed and copper to the street value of R180 000 was recovered. They were then charged for theft and damage to infrastructure. They are both expected to appear in the Mooi River Magistrate’s Court."
Mhlongo says the copper cables belong to Transnet.
