Mooi Mpofana Municipality investigates after resident shot in municipal office
The Mooi Mpofana Municipality says it’s conducting its own investigation after a resident was shot on municipal premises and died in hospital.
It's understood 25-year-old Lindo Mchunu had gone to one of the offices in Mooiriver on Tuesday to get a proof of residence letter.
He’s alleged to have got into an argument with a security guard for not wearing a mask.
The security officer appeared in court yesterday.
Mooi Mpofana Mayor Xolani Duma says an urgent council meeting was called following the incident.

"After the council, we visited the family with the owner of the security company and ended up resolving that we will ensure that the security company also assist with the family to have a proper burial.
"We have condemned what has happened, there shouldn't be a situation where a conflict will cost a life."
