Montclair business robbery suspect expected in court

A suspected robber who allegedly belongs to an armed gang that held up staff at a store in Montclair is due to line up in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Monday.
Police nabbed the 27-year-old man after a shootout on Kenyon Howden Drive on Saturday morning.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says he was trying to escape, along with his other accomplices, who stole cigarettes and cash from the shop.
"He was found in possession of a firearm with 11 rounds of ammunition.

"A joint follow up operation was conducted by police and private security companies to search for the remaining suspects who fled the scene.
"Investigations conducted and led the team to Umlazi where a firearm magazine, ammunition, cigarettes, clothes as well as substantial amount of coins were found.
"Investigations are still ongoing to track the remaining suspects. Charges of robbery, attempted murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition are investigated by Montclair SAPS."
