Montana hits back at Madonsela

Lucky Montana, the former CEO of passenger rail association, Prasa has hit back, saying he rejects the report by the Public Protector.

Thuli Madonsela yesterday revealed the damning findings of her investigation into maladministration and tender fraud under the leadership of Montana.

Montana says he is heading to court.

''I feel that the report is factually incorrect, the interpretation is wrong. Madonsela says that I appointed my uncle Mr Mphefo Ramutloa, I don't have such an uncle.

''She also says that I cancelled seven contracts at park station and appointed a business partner. I can confirm that I cancelled the seven contractors because when I went to the park station, it was filthy and unhealthy and therefore I had to ensure that I act in the interest of the commuters,'' he said.

Prasa has welcomed the report. The agency said in a statement that it will study its contents before communicating its views and related actions.

The agency says the report is considered instrumental as part of other interventions to improve operations including clean governance.
