Mogoeng pleads for more funding for NPA
Updated | By Newswatch
The Chief Justice has pleaded for more funding for the NPA to fill vacant prosecutor posts.
Delivering the judiciary annual performance report at the Constitutional Court today, Mogoeng Mogoeng said around 660 posts remain unfilled at the NPA.
He says this has weakened the prosecutions body.
"As difficult as it is, we plead for more funding for the NPA so that these posts can be filled and the criminal justice system can be strengthened and end up more effective," he says, "We also plead for the strengthening of the investigative capacities of our detective services".
