Moerane Commission: 'Party succession lists can fuel greed'
Former KZN Premier, Senzo Mchunu says the manipulation of succession lists has been identified as a long existing rot within political party structures.
He's been testifying at the Moerane Commission of Inquiry in his personal capacity yesterday.
Mchunu has said that in parties like the ANC, succession lists that are drawn up, don't necessarily bring order to the organisation but can instead fuel greed.

This then leads to desperate measures by those not featured on those lists - to be included.
"You manipulate it such that those who are in majority are the ones who are going to ensure a particular outcome that is predetermined. When there is going to be an elective meeting in a branch - you give them a particular brief in terms of what outcome is wanted by whoever. When you come back, you must come back with this kind of result," he says.
Mchunu's been commenting on how political violence post-2011 has shifted to councillors and influential community members.
