Mobeni Heights Crematorium given ultimatum on furnaces breaking down
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
Officials at the Mobeni Heights Crematorium have until the end of business today to establish why furnaces at the south Durban facility are breaking down.

eThekwini's Thembinkosi Ngcobo believes poor servicing is one reason behind the malfunctioning of these furnaces.
"I'm really drawing towards this conclusion - we are not supposed to be having the problems we have now. It's like every month there is something that happens to the equipment, so it seems to me that the blame must either go to the equipment or to the service provider," he said.
A fire occurred at the crematorium in one of the latest incidents. A second furnace is also inactive due to regular breakdowns since its installation in December.
Ngcobo says other cities have also be affected.
