Mobeni Heights Crematorium gets new furnace
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
The eThekwini Municipality has assured the public that a new furnace at the Mobeni Heights Crematorium in Chatsworth, south of Durban, will be up and running soon.

The new state of the art cremator, manufactured in the United States, has cost the municipality approximately R3.5 million.
The crematorium functioned with just one furnace since 2017, forcing families to find other facilities to cremate their loved ones.

The Municipality's Msawakhe Mayisela says installation is underway.
"The contractor is on-site, starting with the process of installing the new cremator. We are very excited about that."
"As the City, we are going to move with speed to ensure that the situation returns to normalcy. We are also appealing to our residents who are using that crematorium to bear with us," he says.
