Mkhwebane releasing Joemat-Pettersson audio 'public mudslinging'
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Parliament says it won't be drawn on allegations of bribery laid bare by suspended public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane.
It says it'll refrain from engaging in what it calls public mudslinging as the matters under investigation by the Hawks and Parliament itself.
Mkhwebane briefed the media on Tuesday in Sandton, where she detailed allegations of a bribe apparently meant to influence the outcome of the inquiry into her fitness to hold office.
She accused the late ANC MP Tina Joemat-Pettersson, inquiry chairperson David Dyanti and the ANC's chief whip Pemmy Majodina, of trying to extort R600 000 from her husband.

She claims it was to make her Section 194 inquiry go away.
Mkhwebane made public portions of audio recordings, which she says are taped conversations between Joemat-Pettersson and her husband.
She believes the MP would still be alive if the legislature, judiciary and executive had taken action against corruption.
"I know how the media operates. Now you come back, you question the cause of death whether I know. How should I know? Because I am telling you that if the following three arms of the state played their role in making sure that they truly fight and act against corruption, we wouldn't find ourselves here."
