Mkhize 'pleased' with suspension of PMB hospital managers after man's death

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has commended the steps taken by Pietermaritzburg's Northdale Hospital in the wake of a 67-year-old man's death due to alleged negligence.
Sibusiso Khumalo died of Hypoxia on Saturday in a makeshift' COVID-19 base in the facility's parking lot.
A video taken by his daughter of the structure made out of tent fabric sparked public outrage on social media.
Many people demanded answers from the government about the inhumane conditions patients are subjected to.
Two managers at Northdale have since been suspended.
"I am pleased that there has been action taken in this regard because we must make a point to management that we want to hold them personally responsible and accountable."
Mkhize says he's received a report and was aware of the situation before the video went viral.
"Actually before it was out in the media, we had spotted it and already directed that the MEC must investigate the matter. We have got a report that there has been action taken."
It is understood that the makeshift structure has been up for months.
