MK vets, eThekwini discuss refuse collection jobs
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya

The city's Spokesperson, Tozi Mthethwa has told Newswatch that Mayor James Nxumalo is currently in talks with MKMVs on the matter.
Rubbish collection in Umlazi was hampered for more than two weeks after refuse collectors were threatened at gunpoint, apparently by some MK military veterans who say they want the job.
Mthethwa says the city has to honour the contracts it currently has before taking on new service providers.
"There are conversations between the Mayor of eThekwini, Councillor James Nxumalo and the stakeholders in Umlazi who have expressed an interest in becoming involved in waste collection processes.
"We have to wait for the mayor's processes to be concluded. I'm asking that we continue delivering the basic service," she said.
Meanwhile, the municipality says collection services have resumed.
