MK party welcomes ruling on IEC registration
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
The Umkhonto We Sizwe party has welcomed the Electoral Court’s decision to uphold its registration by the Independent Electoral Commission.
The ANC had brought the case against the recently formed party and the IEC, arguing MK's registration was unlawful.
But the court, sitting in the High Court in Johannesburg, has found the deputy CEO of the Electoral Commission acted in compliance with the law.
It added that the ANC failed to object to the registration within the stipulated time.

MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela says they've always trusted and respected the judicial system.
"We have always said from the beginning that this is a frivolous case and a desperate act by the ANC. There’s no way that they are going to stop the hope of the people.
"Our ancestors have spoken and that is just the reality of the inevitability of change. They have to start absorbing that reality and understand that change must now come, and this is the first step."
